What Is Applied Kinesiology?

Applied Kinesiology is a branch of alternative therapy that relies on manual muscle strength testing to perform a diagnosis and carry out the subsequent treatment. Applied Kinesiology was invented in the 1960’s as is based on the principles of Kinesiology. Kinesiology is the science of movement. It is regularly used in fields such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, osteopathy, exercise physiology, massage therapy, physical education, athletic coaching and ergonomics. Applied Kinesiology takes the principles of Kinesiology and adapts them to therapeutic use. Applied Kinesiology is based on the principle that any imbalances in the mind or body are manifested in the form of decreased flexibility and strength in the muscles. These imbalances can be identified by manually testing the strength and mobility of the various muscles. Once the root cause of the imbalance has been identified, an adequate course of treatment can be prescribed to correct the imbalance.
